Even though most people would prefer science-fiction, fantasy, or mystery, everyone has probably read a short story at least once in life. Almost all short stories have a moral to them like what happens when you lie. Speaking of short stories and lying, there is one in particular, called “Stolen Day”, which talks about the consequences when you lie.
Shortly after a small lie, it’ll lead to a bigger one, and an even bigger every time. In fact that happened to the main character in “Stolen Day”. By saying he ached everywhere, when he didn’t, he got to go “home”. Instead of going home and being a “good little boy”, he went fishing. This is important to the story later on because it leads him into more trouble. The fun hasn’t ended yet, everything just builds and builds on to that seemingly little lie, because he tries to hide the guilt, and fails.
Later on his lie catches up to him, meaning he gets caught. Some people never learn, they think it’s funny to lie and get away with it, and everyone has probably dealt with one of those people. Big or small, one lie, that’s all.
