Humans are Different
A young boy is playing outside, sees another group of boys and asks if he can play with them, and the others say “No, you’re too little to play this game.” This is the way modern day society is, ethnocentric, we judge each other by differences, and this just isn’t today’s society, it’s been going on ever since the beginning of mankind.
In the short story Humans Are Different, the robots got rid of humans, but not necessarily on purpose, but us humans on the other hand, we do it on purpose. From the biblical times, back in Egypt, the Egyptians had Hebrew slaves and treated them like animals . Now moving to the medieval times, the crusades were forming, Christians and Muslims fighting for religious artifacts and land, this was of course ethnocentricity at work. The most historic events of ethnocentricity, was in 1939-45, the Nazis, who were trying to get rid of all Jews and make a new race called the Aryan which is blonde hair blue eyed people, and the most ironic part of this all was, Hitler had brown hair.
Tragedy struck the hearts of all Americans on September 11, 2001, terrorist attack our nation’s capital, taking the Twin Towers with them. The reason terrorist attacked us, is because we have a different type of government, we believe in a free country, Al-Qaida on the other wants a strict, one religion society, the true meaning of the attack is, ethnocentricity. Obviously the United States didn’t take this too well, so we went over to the Middle East and tried to change their culture, a perfect example of a deadly sin and ethnocentricity.
Although many people think racism is gone after WWII, Martin Luther King Juniors “I Have a dream” speech, and multiple other historical events against racism, it still lives strong in many parts of the United States, even the world.

ReplyDeleteYou said ethnocentricity way too much, I know its a cool word but you don't want to use any words more than once. If you're having trouble go to thesaurus.com its really helpful.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I tried to look for another word and there was no other entry, but racism started to be able to fit into my essay
